Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
• Supervised arrival begins at 7:30 a.m. Teachers arrive at 7:45 a.m. and class begins at 8:00 a.m.
• A parent must accompany their child to their classroom or activity class when arriving after 8:00 AM.
• Dismissal is at 1:00 p.m. for Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten students in mixed groups.
• We allow 15 minute of tolerance for students to be picked up in the classroom.
• Please notify us when you do not want an older sibling to pick up your child.
• For carpools, please complete the security form and turn it in to the Security Office. There is parking available at Filadelfia for carpools only.
• For play dates, parent written permission is required to release a child to another parent. Emails are accepted only before 10 AM.
• Phone calls will not be accepted as a form of permission.
Absences and Tardies
• Please be punctual as it helps your child feel comfortable. Late arrivals disrupt the entire class.
• If your child is absent for more than 3 days school or if s/he is sent home due to illness, the school requires a doctor's note before readmitting the student.
Child Care: Emergency Care and Monthly Care
• Childcare services begin August 2oth. The cost is $220 pesos per day or $2245 pesos per month.
• You can register with Paola, the section secretary, for the monthly service.
Birthday Celebrations
• The Re-useable Party Set is stored in our classroom and will be used for all in-school parties.
• No piñatas, confetti, party favors, or balloons are allowed.
• In an effort to protect children's hurt feelings when passing out party invitations in school, teachers will allow invitations that either include all boys or all girls or all classmates.
• For external parties of 6 children or less, parent permission allows the release of a child. When inviting 7+ children a release form (housed in the EC office) will require parent signatures from each child and this release form must be given to the office 24 hours in advance.
Room Parent
• The section's Principal and Parent’s Association select the room parent.
Lunch
• Please pack a healthy lunch for your child. For example, water, juice, vegetables, fruit, granola bar, etc.
• Candy, chips, and soda are not allowed.
• In September we will explore the topic of “Healthy Habits”. We will send home more ideas for healthy lunches at that time.
• We are a tetrapak and Styrofoam-free campus.
• We suggest re-usable lunch box containers, such as tupperware and BPA-free or metal bottles.
Progress Reports/Parent Conferences
• All report cards will be given in English unless requested in Spanish.
• We send home progress reports three times a year and hold two parent-teacher conferences per year.
• Parent-teacher communication is essential. If you have a concern about your child, please let us know immediately. Do not wait for the progress reports conference.
Swim Class (Fridays 12:15-1:00 PM)
• We are seeking parent volunteers who can be relied upon to come for swim class and help with changing the children. The rule is we are allowed two parents per class. I ask for several parents so we can organize a rotating schedule.
• Please have your child wear appropriate clothing that will make it easy to change into a swimsuit. If you send your child in a swimsuit, please do not forget to pack underwear. Comfortable clothes and tennis shoes (preferably with Velcro closures) are advisable for sports. Help your child to learn how to dress and undress.
• Non-swimmers will be sent to another classroom during our swim class. We ask that you help us prepare your child or pick up your child before swim class (by 12:00).
Play dough makers
• We need several moms to help throughout the school year make play dough for the classroom.
Toy Day
• Everyday is toy day as long as it does not disrupt any child’s integration socially, emotionally, and/or academically.
• The toys must never be expensive, breakable, or violent. iPads, video games, and make-up are not allowed. Toys or games that promote violence (including guns, swords, etc.) are prohibited.
Socialization
• "You Can't Say You Can't Play" is a section rule that all teachers enforce here. With this common language, we establish a dialogue to encourage social-emotional development in children.
